This past Wednesday, I had the wonderful opportunity to celebrate Finland’s 100th year of independence. I spent the day with the whole family in tow enjoying the celebrations. It was such a special occasion, I figured why not enjoy it to the fullest? And it was just lovely. Venturing outdoors, enjoying the choir, the fireworks, and the overall feeling of warmth and cheer. Then settling in with an abundance of glöggi and of course people-watching the televised Linnanjuhlat or the annual Independence Day reception at the Presidential Palace, a Finnish custom, and a fast favourite of mine. Overall, it was a pleasant day for everyone.
Reflecting on my own journey, today’s theme features tracks that remind me of Finland, for one reason or another. Being here, you’ll find much of your time spent alone, free to wander into the open space of your mind. Music for me has always been a great facilitator and healer, and in creating this playlist, I hope to share this moment of nostalgia, as a small gesture of gratitude to a remarkable country.
